The black bird outfit

Towards the end of this year,  my aesthetics took a leap from brown - pink and brown - aqua to black,  white and everything in between.  Grids in black and white were the most inviting, but Greys and other monochrome prints also caught my mind.  Brights were good enough for accents,  but that's all it was good for.

I have seen a black bird dress on Pinterest and was in love with it.  It was a white a line dress with a pie and black birds embroidered on it.  Never did I expect to get a similar print from a local store,  in fact it was a shirting fabric,  hence quality assured.  I choose black fabric with white birds on it and still would call it my black bird fabric.

Geraniums are always sweet on toddlers and i love them with short bodice used as tops. A pair of bubble shorts  was perfect to team up with it for an early morning visit to beach. This charcoal  and black houndstooth suiting fabric turned girly with enough gathers.

I m not much into bought patterns,  not because I think they aren't helpful,  it's simply because we in our place measure a person and come up with a pattern,  we usually don't go by commercial sizes.  Thanks to the tutorials over the Internet,  now I appreciate how helpful paper patterns are and I stopped cutting my girls' dresses directly tracing the ones they wear,  I  keep patterns drawn in paper which makes it easy to make multiple versions and things are more accurate this way.

Button holes are not friends with me yet and this pop of yellow tag  was fun and easy. I love this outfit on her and the tiny bow clip turned out to be a just a photo prop.  She hates hair clips or may be she loves them that they are seen in her hands mostly.
